Actor Ranvir Shorey has offered rare insights into his personal life, speaking candidly about navigating dating apps, maintaining boundaries with former partners, and raising his son after his separation from Konkona Sen Sharma. Shorey and Konkona married in 2010 and finalised their divorce in 2015; they share a 14-year-old son, Haroon.
On Staying Connected With an Ex After Moving On
In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Shorey addressed whether ex-partners should remain closely involved in one’s life. He emphasised the importance of prioritising present relationships.
“You should not be so in touch that it makes your present partner uncomfortable,” he said. “Obviously, if you had a relationship with someone and you bump into them, it’s not like
you won’t even say hi. But I don’t think it should get to a point where the ex is also part of the family.”
The actor made it clear that emotional clarity and boundaries matter to him deeply, especially as someone co-parenting with a former partner.
Ranvir Shorey on Using Dating Apps Today
Shorey also revealed that he is active on dating apps and believes that finding a partner depends heavily on life circumstances.
“Yes, I do use dating apps,” he admitted. “Requirements in a match vary from person to person. For me, as a divorced single father, they would be different from what a 30-year-old would have.”
His comments reflect the realities of dating after major life transitions — something the actor speaks about with characteristic honesty.
Co-Parenting and the Timing of His Separation
The Ek Tha Tiger actor also shared the thought process behind his separation from Konkona Sen Sharma, particularly as it related to Haroon’s emotional well-being.
“I sought separation at the right age for him,” he said. “I had problems even before that. But I waited until he was four years old. I didn’t delay it any more because of this exact reason. I felt that later in life, it would have a stronger impact on him.”
Explaining his decision further, Shorey added, “I thought four was a good age to initiate this. At that age, the child knows who his mother and father are. They are at a more malleable age. If they have to adapt to a new way of life, it is less traumatic, I feel.”
What’s Next for Ranvir Shorey
On the work front, Shorey will reprise his role as Chote Dawaan in season two of the comedy-drama Bindiya Ke Bahubali. The series premiered in August on Amazon MX Player and continues to earn a loyal following.
