If you live in or around Hebbal, plan your Wednesday carefully. Several neighbourhoods in north Bengaluru will face a scheduled power outage on February 4 due to emergency maintenance work, with electricity supply set to be cut for 5 hours during the day.
The disruption has been announced by BESCOM and will affect multiple residential layouts connected to the L.R. Bande substation.
According to officials, power supply will be interrupted from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Wednesday. The shutdown is linked to urgent maintenance work being carried out by KPTCL at the 66/11 KVA L.R. Bande substation in the Hebbal division.
While supply is expected to be restored by late afternoon, residents should note that restoration times may vary slightly depending on the
area and load conditions.
Which Areas Will Be Affected?
The outage will impact around 30 layouts and surrounding localities in the Hebbal zone. Areas on the list include Kavalbyrasandra, L.R. Bande Main Road, Chinnanna Layout, Ambedkar Layout, Anwar Layout, Kaveri Nagar and Sultan Palya.
Other affected localities include Kanakanagar, Rankanagar, K.H.B. Main Road, Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, D.G.A. Halli, K.J. Halli, K.J. Colony, Adarsha Nagar and V. Nagenahalli.
Residents in Periyar Nagar, Periyar Circle, Shampur, Kushal Nagar, Modi Road, Modi Garden, Doddanna Nagar, Muniveerappa Layout, Sugar Mandi, Salt Mandi and Muneshwara Nagar may also face power disruption. BESCOM has said nearby areas linked to the same substation could experience outages as well.
How to Prepare for the Outage
Residents working from home, students attending online classes and small businesses are advised to charge essential devices in advance. Those relying on lifts, water pumps or medical equipment should make necessary arrangements ahead of time.
Apartment associations may want to check the availability of backup power and ensure generators are operational for common areas.
Officials say the shutdown is unavoidable as the maintenance work is critical to preventing unexpected breakdowns and ensuring a more stable power supply in the Hebbal region in the coming weeks.
Watch Out Even After Power Is Restored
Power supply will resume once the maintenance work is completed, though brief fluctuations may be experienced initially. Residents are advised to switch off sensitive appliances during the outage to avoid damage when electricity returns.
For updates or changes in the schedule, BESCOM has asked consumers to stay alert to local announcements.
