Virat Kohli will bat at his usual No. 3 position for Team India in the second ODI against New Zealand, which is scheduled to take place at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Wednesday (January 14). During
the match against the Black Caps, the 37-year-old right-handed batter from Delhi will have a chance to become India’s highest run-getter in ODIs against New Zealand.
Kohli needs one run in the second ODI to go past Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 1750 runs and take the No. 1 position in the list of Indian batters with the most runs in the 50-over format of the game against the 2019 ODI World Cup losing finalists.
Tendulkar played 42 ODIs for India against New Zealand during his 24-year-long international career from 1989 to 2013 and scored 1750 runs, whereas Kohli also has 1750 runs to his name in 34 ODIs played so far.
