Most people know that members of the Jain community avoid onions and garlic in their diet. However, a recent find at a DMart store surprised many shoppers. A customer from Mumbai spotted a bottle of Schezwan
Chutney by Ching’s that is specially made to cater to those who follow a strict Jain diet. The shopper expressed their astonishment, commenting, “I’ve seen everything now.” While some on the Internet found it amusing, others questioned why the man wasn’t using Zepto or Flipkart for fast home delivery.

The discovery quickly sparked curiosity among others who had never heard of such a version before. While the 250-gram bottle normally costs Rs 94, the store was selling it for just Rs 71, offering a discount of Rs 23.
The regular Schezwan Chutney by Ching’s contains ingredients like water, dried glucose syrup, ginger, sunflower oil, salt, chilli, sugar, garlic, onion, corn starch, spices, celery and soy sauce powder. On the other hand, the Jain version skips onion and garlic completely. Its ingredient list includes water, cottonseed oil, celery, chilli, sugar, tomato paste, iodised salt, dried glucose syrup, thickener, along with spices and condiments.

Reacting to the post, a user raising a point wrote, “Shezwaaan mai Gralic onion nahi hai, but Guthke mai Kesar hai.”
Another shared, “That’s the last stop in the food segment.”
“Multi-cultural madness,” a comment read.
An individual stated, “Every product has a market.”
Another mentioned, “Halal certified ke baad ab JAIN certified Products.”
When one more asked, “Why are you still shopping physically at DMart? Zepto, Flipkart is way more reasonable, cheap and faster.”
The user who shared the image explained that they prefer shopping in a traditional way and still enjoy going out for groceries. They emphasised that everyone has the freedom to choose where to shop, and personally, they have many options nearby. With a DMart store just two kilometres away and convenient parking, it remains a practical choice. They also mentioned having shopped at DMart for many years, long before quick delivery apps became popular.
