In the IPL 2026 match played between MI and PBKS at Wankhede Stadium on April 16, Shreyas Iyer invited Mumbai Indians to bat first. MI lost Ryan Rickelton (2) and Suryakumar Yadav (0) inside three overs, but then Quinton de Kock joined hands with Naman Dhir and added 122 runs from 68 balls to help them post a fighting total of 195/6 in 20 overs.
De Kock, who was signed for Rs 1 crore by MI in the IPL 2026 auction, played an unbeaten knock of 112 runs from 60 balls, and Dhir scored 50 runs from 31 balls.
But the target of 196 runs didn’t prove too much, and PBKS chased it down without much fuss. After Priyansh Arya helped PBKS get off to a flying start, Iyer joined hands with the uncapped Indian wicketkeeper, and the duo added 139 runs from just 66 balls to seal the deal for the visitors.
The fifty by Iyer against MI is his third half-century in a row in IPL 2026, and he is now sixth in the list of batters with most runs, and his side takes the No. 1 position in the points table.
