Jana Nayagan was leaked online, and this became the biggest controversy overnight, with many reports claiming that the movie was leaked from the CBFC. Now, a new update has confirmed that these reports hold no truth. An update suggests that these reports were “baseless and misleading.”
PTI quoted a source reacting to the ongoing controversy and stated, “Reports claiming that the Tamil film Jana Nayagan was leaked from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are baseless and misleading.” The source further continued and added that any film that comes to the CBFC for review is sent through a secure KDM (Key Delivery Message) system, which means the content is password-protected and can only be accessed with a password that remains solely
with the producer/filmmaker. “Without a valid KDM, the film cannot be accessed or viewed.”
Which parts of Jana Nayagan were leaked?
According to reports, the leaked video featured the film’s title credits along with Vijay’s introduction scene. The clip had been circulating widely across social media platforms. Fans took to social media to tag the producer, KVN Productions, and appealed for strict action against those responsible for leaking and sharing the video. The footage was believed to have been leaked from the editing room. The allegedly leaked clip also showed a man pausing the video towards the end, as per reports, raising further questions about how the footage was recorded and released.
Makers’ reaction to the Jana Nayagan leak
On April 10, KVN Productions LLP, the producers of Jana Nayagan, shared a stern statement addressing the controversy. They stated that portions of the film had been illegally accessed and circulated by unidentified individuals and warned that every digital action leaves a traceable footprint. The note read, “It has come to our notice that certain scenes and clips from the said film, and in some cases most of the film, have been illegally accessed, copied, and circulated by unidentified persons, posing a serious threat of digital piracy. We hereby notify that downloading, viewing, storing, forwarding, sharing, uploading, or circulating such leaked content through WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, websites, torrents, or any other medium constitutes a criminal offence and a violation of copyright laws.”
The statement further read, “Every digital action is traceable, and we have already initiated necessary investigations, including forensic investigations and complaints against persons involved, and are actively identifying all others in the chain of circulation. Strict civil and criminal proceedings will be pursued against every offender without exception.”
