Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna are officially back on screen together. The much-loved pair, who last shared the frame seven years ago in Dear Comrade, have announced their new film Ranabaali, earlier known as VD14. The announcement has instantly set social media buzzing, not just because of the film’s scale, but also because it marks a significant professional reunion for the actors amid ongoing buzz about their personal lives.
Vijay Deverakonda And Rashmika Mandanna Reunite After Seven Years
The first look of Ranabaali was unveiled on Monday, January 26, offering a striking visual introduction to Vijay Deverakonda’s character. The teaser shows Vijay as a fierce warrior mounted on a horse, dragging a British officer across rugged terrain
— a raw, confrontational image that hints at rebellion, resistance, and buried histories.
Sharing the video, Vijay wrote, “The British called him a ‘SAVAGE.’ I do not disagree. He was ‘OUR’ Savage! Introducing the one and only ‘RANABAALI.’ And setting the record straight on our history which they tried to bury.” The caption alone made it clear that the film aims to reclaim a forgotten or distorted chapter of history.
What Ranabaali Is About
Set in the 19th century, Ranabaali draws inspiration from real historical events that unfolded between 1854 and 1878. The film positions itself as a large-scale action drama rooted in resistance against colonial oppression.
Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, a pivotal character whose role is expected to be emotionally grounded and historically significant. International actor Arnold Vosloo essays the role of Sir Theodore Hector, adding global heft to the narrative’s colonial backdrop.
The film’s music is composed by Ajay-Atul, promising a powerful sonic landscape to match its epic ambitions.
Production Details And Release Plans
Ranabaali is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers and is presented by T-Series. Designed as a multilingual release, the film will hit theatres in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The makers have locked September 11, 2026, as the film’s theatrical release date.
Wedding Buzz Around Vijay And Rashmika
Beyond the film announcement, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna continue to dominate headlines for their personal lives. The two reportedly got engaged in October 2025 at Vijay’s Hyderabad residence in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family.
According to reports, the couple is planning to tie the knot on February 26 at a heritage palace in Udaipur. A source quoted by Hindustan Times stated that the wedding is intended to be an intimate affair, with a larger industry reception likely to be hosted later in Hyderabad.
While neither Vijay nor Rashmika has officially confirmed the wedding details, their reunion in Ranabaali has only intensified public curiosity.
