Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 faced a rocky start at the box office, earning just about Rs 12 crore in its first two weeks, compared to the Rs 49 crore lifetime collection of the original 2015 film. The comedian attributes the sequel’s underperformance to limited screen availability caused by the continued dominance of Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar.
Released on December 5, Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller not only captured the imagination of audiences but also secured one of the widest releases of the year. With its massive screen count and showtime advantage, Dhurandhar has consistently drawn viewers away from other theatrical releases. Movies like Avatar: Fire and Ash, Zootopia 2, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, and Kapil
Sharma’s comedy sequel suffered from reduced screen presence, which impacted their collections.
Kapil Sharma’s team issued an official statement explaining the film’s limited theatrical run: “Audiences were in for a nostalgic ride as Kapil Sharma brought back his much-loved entertainer Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, with a much-awaited sequel. The film opened to positive responses from audiences and critics alike, however, its theatrical run was impacted by limited screen availability due to ongoing multiplex takeovers by other releases.”
Despite these challenges, the statement highlighted the film’s appeal: “Even with limited screens, Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 managed to make audiences laugh, entertain and relive the franchise’s charm with its light-hearted comedy and situational humour.”
