In India, managers are often criticised online for rude behaviour, lack of empathy and poor communication. Employees frequently share stories of toxic work environments and excessive workloads on social
media, painting a grim picture of workplace culture in several organisations. Against this negativity, a recent Reddit post has gone viral for highlighting a refreshingly different experience.
The post, shared under the title “In a world full of bad managers, here is a good one,” features screenshots of conversations between an employee and his manager that many users said they “could only dream of.”
Employee’s Chat With The Manager
The first one shows his manager trying to contact him after she notices the employee was feeling low at work. She asked, “Hey. I just wanted to check if you are okay. You seemed really dull today. All okay, right?”
In another conversation, the employee informed her about a doctor’s appointment, saying, “Hi. I am going for a doctor’s appointment. Will be back before 7.” Instead of grilling him or demanding proof, the manager responds with genuine concern, “Oh, alright… ok ok. All fine?”
The last screenshot also shows the manager asking the employee to log off while she took over his tasks, a gesture that several users pointed out is rare in many workplaces.
‘She Is A Gem’
In his caption, the employee praised her people-first approach, writing, “My current manager is the nicest person I have ever met. She might not be the most technically qualified, but when it comes to taking care of people, she is a gem.”

What Did Reddit Users Comment?
The post quickly gained traction, with users flooding the comments section with admiration, envy and personal anecdotes.
“Count your blessings, brother. It’s very rare to find such a manager in today’s time, especially in India,” read a comment.
Another said, “Saving this. If someday my manager gets angry at me, I will send him this. It’s my first job, and I am just a teen.”
“It’s rare to find someone who truly values their team, especially in a work culture where recognition and care can sometimes be overlooked. Having a manager who supports and appreciates you, not just professionally but personally, makes a huge difference,” wrote a user.
An individual stated, “Such managers will keep their employees more productive and loyal to their current jobs.”
“My manager does this too, but it’s not about being concerned over my dullness or anything like that. He worries that I might leave because of the excessive workload. We’re just a 3–4 member team in an unfunded startup, so when they treat you like this, it usually means either the salary is low or you’re a key person there,” shared a user.
An account posted, “This kind of relationship is always give and take. It’ll mostly take that one evil person who’ll take advantage of this manager, and it’ll flip.”
“People like her make me happy. After working for a decade, I’d take a nice empathetic person over the most talented one,” commented a Reddit user.
Most Amazing Part?
The employee added that after working in toxic environments previously, he was grateful to have a manager who gives credit publicly, appreciates late-night efforts, and even brings home-cooked food for the team during festivals.
