Taking to X, the woman named Pooja shared that she was travelling from Delhi to Oslo, with a two-hour connection at Heathrow. She held a valid Schengen Type C visa and had a confirmed onward ticket. She believed she would remain inside the airport and would not pass through UK Immigration; that is why she did not apply for a UK transit visa.

She Says She Wasn’t Informed Beforehand

“At Delhi Airport, British Airways stopped me from boarding. The reason? I did not have a UK Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV). The most shocking part? I discovered this requirement at the airport, not when I booked the ticket,” she said in her post.

She then urged Indian travellers to be careful while having a layover in the UK. Pooja said, “If you are an Indian passport holder travelling to Europe via the UK, do not assume that a Schengen Visa and a confirmed connecting flight are enough.
