Kushinagar (UP), Jul 23 (PTI) A 12-year-old boy drowned in a drain while fishing in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district, police said.
According to the police, Aditya Chauhan from Bhagwanpur village had gone to a drain to fish around 6 pm on Wednesday.
He suddenly began to drown in deep water and started shouting for help. Hearing his cries, people rushed to the spot. Some youths pulled Aditya out of the drain.
With the help of locals, he was taken to the Primary Health Centre in Bodarwar, where doctors declared him dead after examination.
Aditya’s father, Shatrughna, is currently in Saudi Arabia for work.
Police were informed of the incident, following which police personnel arrived at the spot, but returned after the family refused a post-mortem.
Kaptanganj SHO Dhirendra Rai said that the family performed the last rites in an orchard outside the village without conducting a post-mortem. PTI COR NAV NB NB
