The Uttar Pradesh government will train 232 academic resource persons from 58 districts as part of an effort to strengthen the implementation of the NIPUN Bharat Mission and improve foundational literacy and numeracy in primary schools across the state.
The state-level residential training programme will be held in three phases between June 22 and July 10 at the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW) in Lucknow. The initiative aims to build a pool of trained Academic Resource Persons (ARPs) and District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) mentors who will subsequently train teachers at the block level.
According to the government, four resource persons from each district, including two ARPs and two DIET mentors, will participate
in the programme. The trained personnel will later serve as master trainers, helping implement Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN)-based teaching methods and NCERT textbook-focused classroom practices among primary school teachers and Shiksha Mitras.
Officials said the training is designed to support the rollout of a proposed five-day capacity-building programme for primary school teachers and Shiksha Mitras during the 2026-27 academic session.
The training will be conducted in three batches. The first phase is scheduled from June 22 to June 26, the second from June 29 to July 3 and the third from July 6 to July 10.
The government said each district will nominate four participants, with at least one representative from Hindi, Mathematics and English among the selected resource persons. Preference will be given to candidates with strong subject knowledge and training facilitation experience.
Officials said the programme is aimed at ensuring greater consistency in classroom teaching practices while improving learning outcomes among students. The trained resource persons will be responsible for disseminating FLN-based teaching strategies and NIPUN Bharat Mission objectives among teachers across the state.
The NIPUN Bharat Mission focuses on strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy skills among children in the early years of schooling. The Uttar Pradesh government said the latest training initiative is part of its broader efforts to improve academic quality through teacher training, learning assessments, academic monitoring and activity-based learning.
The government added that strengthening teacher capacity and academic leadership remains central to achieving the mission’s goals and improving foundational education outcomes across the state.
