Beed, Sep 13 (PTI) A 13-year-old schoolgirl who was allegedly abducted by a local youth in Maharashtra’s Beed district managed to escape from her captor’s custody within a few hours, police said on Sunday.
Following the incident on Saturday, the minor was taken to the Beed District Hospital for a medical examination, while police have detained several associates of the accused to trace his whereabouts, an official said.
The girl was allegedly abducted from the jurisdiction of Patoda police station, and she escaped and reached home within hours, he said.
Based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother, the Patoda police registered a case against the accused under section 137(2) (kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the official said.
A probe has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the girl’s abduction, he added. PTI COR ARU
