Has Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor Quit Acting? Anil Kapoor's Son Sets the Record Straight

Anil Kapoor’s son Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor made his entry in Bollywood with Mirzya in 2016. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and written by acclaimed poet Gulzar, the film also starred Saiyami Kher alongside him. Since then, he has featured in projects like Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, AK vs AK and Thar. The actor has maintained a relatively selective filmography and has made limited on-screen appearances. Recently, a social media user asked him why he has stepped away from acting. Harsh, who is known for his honest opinions, assured the user that he has been working on his next project.

On June 8, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor took to his X handle and tweeted about Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. He tweeted, “Just dropped 10 K on 3 tickets for the Odyssey in

IMAX .. Nolan take my money … I’m alive !” Soon, a social media user commented, “@HarshKapoor_ I’ve been wondering why you’ve stepped back from acting. You’re genuinely a talented actor even if the films didn’t become big blockbusters, your performances were widely praised. Why stop now? Keep hustling, bhai. And if you ever need a role model, you don’t have to look far you’re blessed to have @AnilKapoor as your father. The most energetic 69-year-old guy on the planet! We’d love to see you back on screen soon!”

Responding to the discussion around his limited filmography, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor clarified that he has never stepped away from work. The actor revealed that he has been developing a new project ever since Thar was released and pointed out that films of that nature take years to make. Addressing expectations around the frequency of his releases, Harsh further noted that audiences may be accustomed to actors starring in multiple films each year. His tweet read, “I haven’t stepped back at all been working on a new one since the day thar released it took 5 years to get thar made .. it took many years for vikram to make bhavesh and its taken me 2-3 years now to finish this film ok working on which I finish filming on June 30 th.. I’m also producing it .. I guess people are used to actors doing multiple films a year .. if you want films like bhavesh and thar and Ak vs Ak/ Ray it’s not gonna happen once or twice a year that’s just the reality .. but thank you and the new film is the best one yet 100 percent its extremely unique.”

Soon after he tweeted, fans were seen showering love on him. One fan commented, “You are the finest actor I have found in you, you should come back, you also have a raw and aesthetic look, it shows the real Indian, every middle class person can relate to you.” Another fan wrote, “You are a talented actor, people may try put nepotism stamp but its just jealousy. I have seen bhavesh joshi, you should experiment & do niche carved out characters bcoz if you don’t then who will.” Another fan asked, “What happened to the abhinav bindra biopic?”

Harsh was supposed to feature in the biopic on Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra with Anil Kapoor. However, it was recently reported that the film has been shelved.
