'Only Disowned My Brother': Rohini Acharya Says Father Lalu 'Always By My Side' Amid Family Feud

Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has opened up about the recent family feud that erupted after the Mahagathbandhan’s resounding defeat in the Bihar assembly elections. She asserted that despite the turmoil, she continues to have the blessings and support of her parents, Lalu and Rabri Devi.

A day after she announced that she had cut ties with her family, following a series of explosive social media posts, Rohini was seen leaving her elder sister Misa Bharti’s residence in Delhi. She maintained that she had “not lied about any of the events” that took place during the family dispute.

Rohini said she felt fortunate to have supportive parents and questioned why daughters are often expected to make sacrifices in a family, especially compared to sons. “When questions were asked to the brothers, they tell me to go to my in-laws’ house. As a result, I have decided to disown my brother,” she added.

The former RJD leader revealed she was travelling to Mumbai to stay with her mother-in-law, who has been deeply concerned since the incident.

Rohini had sparked controversy with a series of posts on X, describing the humiliation and abuse she faced at home. She claimed she was “humiliated,” “abused,” and even threatened with a slipper, insisting that she refused to compromise on her self-respect or values.

“Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated, abuses were hurled, shoes were raised to kill her… I didn’t compromise on my self-respect, didn’t give up on truth… just because of this, I had to face insults. Yesterday, a daughter left her crying parents and siblings due to helplessness… she was forced to leave her parental home… she was made an orphan… I pray that none of you ever have to walk my path, and no house should have a daughter-sister like Rohini,” she wrote.

Following her announcement to quit politics, Rohini accused Tejashwi Yadav and his aide Sanjay Yadav of throwing her out of the family. “I have no family. You can go and ask this to Sanjay Yadav, Rameez, and Tejashwi Yadav. They are the ones who threw me out of the family,” she said.

The RJD suffered a poor performance in the Bihar polls, winning only 25 seats out of more than 140 contested. As of now, neither the party nor members of the Yadav family have responded to Rohini’s allegations.
