Alia Bhatt created history after she won her sixth Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her film Jigra, beating legends like Nutan, Kajol, Meena Kumari, and Vidya Balan. Now, as the actress has been awarded the honour, she couldn’t help but thank the team of her film and Filmfare for considering her worthy.
Taking to her Instagram, Alia Bhatt shared a couple of BTS pictures from her film Jigra and penned a long note stating, “This one will always stay closest to my heart … not just for the story we told, but for the incredible people who gave it life. @vasanbala, thank you for seeing it the way you did. @vedangraina, #VivekGomber, #ManojPahwa, @yuvvrajviijan, @dheerhira… thank you for the honesty you brought to every frame.”

“So grateful to @filmfare for the honour, and to everyone who found a piece of themselves in this film. I wish I could’ve been there to hold that moment in person, but my heart is full all the same,” she further wrote, while adding, “It felt truly full circle @karanjohar, @dharmamovies, @grish1234, and @eternalsunshineproduction coming together for this one. And I’ll always be thankful for my real-life Jigra, @shaheenb, for being my calm through it all.”
She concluded the note with, “For now, all I can say is ‘Taara na disse, ya chaann kho jaawe. Tenu sang rakhna.’”
Alia Bhatt Gets Massive Backlash
Reddit has taken this up to discuss if the actress really deserved a trophy for Jigra, and now she is getting quite a lot of backlash. While reacting to the win, one wrote, “Alia is desperate for validation because deep down she knows nothing about her stardom feels earned. Everything — her wins, her films, the endless PR push — is so carefully manufactured that it’s hard to take her ‘success’ seriously. That’s why no matter how many awards or magazine covers she gets, she still gives off that insecurity; she knows it’s all built on connections, not genuine talent or struggle.” “Alia Bhatt single-handedly made me a Filmfare hater. Does she REALLY deserve these many awards?” another user wrote. “Things like these are the reason she will never be likable no matter how big she becomes as an actress,” another one added.
About Jigra
WhileJigra opened to a modest Rs 4.25 crore on its first day, marking the lowest opening for an Alia Bhatt-led film in a decade, the movie’s performance was considered disappointing, especially because it was released during the festive Dussehra period, a time when films typically see a surge in ticket sales.
