Rajasthan Royals moved to the 4th spot on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 points table, after defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 7 wickets on Tuesday night in Jaipur. In doing so, they displaced the Punjab Kings (PBKS), who have lost 6 matches on the trot. The Royals are now on 14 points and would need a win against the Mumbai Indians in their last game to make it to the playoffs.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his evening ritual of leaving spectators spellbound with a breathtaking 38-ball 93 as Rajasthan Royals moved closer to the next round of the tournament.
While the likes of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have already qualified, five teams are fighting for one playoff spot left.
Punjab Kings (5th, 13 points) must win their last game to reach 15 points and hope RR lose. With a superior net run rate (+0.227), PBKS remain the biggest threat in the race for the final spot.
Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals (6th and 7th, 12 points each) need to win their remaining matches to get to 14 points. However, they also require both RR and PBKS to lose, and then rely on net run rate. CSK have a realistic chance, while DC’s poor NRR (-0.871) makes qualification highly unlikely.
Kolkata Knight Riders (8th, 11 points) must win both their remaining matches and hope other results go their way to stay in contention.
