Veteran actor and dancer Kalpana Iyer has found herself back in the spotlight after a video of her dancing to her iconic number Rambha Ho Ho Ho at a friend’s wedding went viral on social media. The clip, which shows her matching steps with infectious energy at the age of 70, drew widespread praise and admiration. Riding this renewed wave of love, Kalpana has now opened up about the resurgence of her legendary song and expressed heartfelt gratitude to filmmaker Aditya Dhar for bringing it back to popular memory through Dhurandhar.
Kalpana Iyer On ‘Rambha Ho Ho Ho’ Finding New Life In Dhurandhar
Originally featured in the 1981 film Armaan, Rambha Ho Ho Ho recently found a new audience after its reimagined version was used during a high-octane fight
sequence in Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh. While Kalpana revealed that she is yet to watch the film herself, the impact of the song’s revival reached her almost instantly through messages from friends and well-wishers.
“A lot of people told me about it. As a matter of fact, quite a few of my friends who watched Dhurandhar immediately sent me those links. They were like, ‘Your song is playing, and we are remembering you,’ and I just became emotional and extremely grateful,” she said in an interview with India Today.
‘How Can I Not Be Grateful To Aditya Dhar?’
Reflecting on the unexpected resurgence of her work decades later, Kalpana spoke warmly about Aditya Dhar’s role in reintroducing the song to a younger generation.
“How can I not be grateful to Aditya Dhar? It’s been so long. If a film revives a song in such a way that the younger generation is humming it, then for me it’s like saying, ‘Thank you, God,’” she shared. “Who would have imagined that at the age of 70, my song from a film would go viral again? It’s fabulous.”
Dhurandhar’s Music Sparks Nostalgia Beyond One Song
Rambha Ho Ho Ho isn’t the only classic to enjoy renewed attention thanks to Dhurandhar. The film also brought back Fa9la, famously associated with Flipperachi, which was used as the powerful entry track for Akshaye Khanna’s character, Rehman Dakait. The film went on to become an all-time blockbuster, earning ₹1,000 crore at the domestic box office and crossing ₹1,300 crore worldwide.
What’s Next: Dhurandhar 2
With the first film’s success, fans are now eagerly looking forward to the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The upcoming instalment will see Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan returning to reprise their roles and is slated for a theatrical release on March 19.
For Kalpana Iyer, the moment stands as a reminder that timeless art never truly fades—it simply waits for the right moment to be rediscovered.
