Itanagar, Jul 28 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh minister Ojing Tasing on Tuesday called for strengthening grassroots governance and empowering rural institutions, urging officials and elected representatives to ensure effective implementation of government schemes and take their benefits to every village.
Addressing a day-long orientation programme for functionaries of the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department at Pasighat in East Siang district, the minister concerned said the state government was organising similar programmes across the state to ensure wider participation and reinforce its commitment to holistic rural development.
Stressing the significance of the 16th Finance Commission, Tasing said the successful implementation of development
programmes depends on practical understanding and effective problem-solving at the grassroots level, an official statement said here.
He urged officers and public representatives to act as facilitators rather than obstacles and appealed to all stakeholders to contribute towards the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
The minister also asked officials to strengthen rural communities through the effective implementation of flagship schemes, including the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and G-RAM-G, so that unemployed youth and villagers can fully benefit from government initiatives.
Advisor to the minister, Taniya Soki, said capacity-building programmes are essential for strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions and improving rural governance.
He stressed the need to empower elected representatives, enhance digital literacy among grassroots leaders and promote mutual respect and cooperation between government officials and elected representatives. PTI UPL UPL ACD
