Harry Potter fans, get ready! Warner Bros. Discovery has unveiled its extensive plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. From unique fan experiences to spectacular screenings — the celebration is going to be as grand as it can get.
The film premiered on November 16, 2001, and cast a spell over fans around the world. The film marks the first instalment in Warner Bros.’ eight-movie series that adapted J.K. Rowling’s best-selling Harry Potter novels.
Harry Potter Films’ 25th Anniversary Celebration
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the festivities will kick off in spring with butterbeer trucks offering an array of drinks and merchandise across selected cities worldwide from March to May.
Following which,
official Harry Potter locations and retail stores around the world will celebrate the character’s birthday on July 31 with possibly limited-edition products and events. The popular Back to Hogwarts celebration will take place in August and September, reuniting fans from various parts of the world.
Exclusive Film Screenings
The celebrations will also be marked with theatrical screenings of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which will feature 10 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage. The exclusive screening will take place from August 27 to September 3.
As per the reports, the film will be seen at Cosm venues in Shared Reality, accompanied by supplemental visuals. Venues include Los Angeles and Dallas, along with Atlanta and Detroit, set to open this year. The tickets will go on sale March 4 ahead of the events.
The celebrations further extend to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour experiences in Tokyo and London. Additionally, the latter is all set to launch its new summer feature honoring Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Universal theme parks will also celebrate the occasion at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with such limited-time offerings as butterbeer season and Back to Hogwarts, among other experiences.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
The first installment in the Harry Potter film series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, was directed by Chris Columbus. The film starred Daniel Radcliffe as the eponymous orphaned boy as he enrolls in a school of wizardry.
Other cast members include Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Robbie Coltrane, John Cleese, Richard Harris, Alan Rickman, and Maggie Smith, among others. The film became the year’s highest-grossing movie at the global box office, grossing $974 million at the box office, as per reports.
