Anurag Kashyap is one of the most loved actors and filmmakers in Bollywood. While he has recently directed Nishaanchi, he stepped away from acting for a brief period, and in a recent interview, he opened up about his decision to quit acting temporarily.
Speaking to HT, the director stated that he stepped away from acting to avoid being stereotyped. The director, who recently made his debut in Telugu cinema with Dacoit, shared that he started feeling he was being offered “different versions of the same character,” hence he decided not to take up many acting roles. “People tend to see you in a certain way, and you keep getting similar roles,” Anurag Kashyap added.
Kashyap also spoke about the characters being good or bad and said, “It’s not about whether
those roles are good or bad, but that they don’t challenge you anymore.”
“I didn’t want to keep doing something just because it was coming to me. There has to be a reason beyond just being visible,” Anurag further continued.
