The Odyssey Box Office Collection Day 2: Christopher Nolan Film Jumps 26%, Crosses Rs 39 Crore In India

Christopher Nolan’s film, The Odyssey, has come to the theatres with a storm. On Day 2, July 18, the epic fantasy drama saw a huge jump in collections. In totality, the India net earnings has crossed Rs 39 crore. The Odyssey is Christopher Nolan’s first feature film after Oppenheimer, which had won seven Academy Awards.

The Odyssey witnessed a solid jump in collections on its second day at the Indian box office. According to Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 22 crore net across 8,791 shows on Day 2. With this, its total India net collection has reached Rs 39.40 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 47.03 crore.

The film’s ₹22 crore Day 2 collection represents a 26.4% increase over its ₹17.40 crore opening-day earnings, indicating strong

audience interest and positive word of mouth. It also recorded an overall 54.4% occupancy on Saturday. The English version remained the biggest contributor, collecting ₹17.75 crore, while the Hindi-dubbed version added ₹2.35 crore.

Meanwhile, The Odyssey has also made a massive impact globally. According to Variety, the film earned $51 million on Friday from 3,919 screens across North America. It is now headed for Christopher Nolan’s biggest worldwide opening ever, with an estimated $257.8 million debut, including $137.3 million from 73 international markets. The opening surpasses the director’s previous global debut records set by The Dark Knight Rises ($249 million), The Dark Knight ($198 million), and Oppenheimer ($180 million).

The Odyssey is a 2026 epic fantasy action film written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem, the film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, whose decade-long journey home after the Trojan War is filled with mythical creatures, dangerous challenges and emotional reunions. Anne Hathaway plays his wife, Penelope, while the ensemble cast also features Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya and Charlize Theron. The film is produced by Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas under their banner, Syncopy.
