US Iran War News LIVE Updates: The US launched a fresh round of strikes against Iran on late Monday, with the CENTCOM saying that the strikes were aimed at further weakening “Iranian military capabilities” used to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian state media reported explosions in several locations, including Isfahan and Chabahar, while Tehran also carried out strikes on US allies in the Gulf, including Kuwait and Jordan.
The strikes came after US President Donald Trump warned Iran that it would pay “many times over” for every American soldier killed, following the deaths of three more US service members over the weekend.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said nearly 100 US service members have suffered injuries since
July 7, with 96 per cent having already returned to duty. He said most injuries were minor concussions.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the conflict had entered a new phase, calling it as a “full-scale war”. Iran-backed Houthi rebels also threatened to widen the conflict by announcing plans to blockade Saudi ports.
Despite the escalation, diplomatic efforts are continuing, with mediators proposing a 10-day ceasefire between the US and Iran.
