Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice on Tuesday (June 23) to help his side register a 5-0 win over Uzbekistan in their second Group K match of the FIFA World Cup 2026. In the fixture played at NRG Stadium in Houston, the 41-year-old opened the scoring in the sixth minute and found the back of the net again in the 39th minute. His brace in Portugal’s second match of this year’s FIFA World Cup helped him break multiple records.
Ronaldo became the first and only footballer to score in six editions of the FIFA World Cup and also the oldest player to score a brace in the tournament’s history. The two goals against Uzbekistan also helped him break a 60-year-old record and become Portugal’s all-time leading goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history.
After leading Portugal to a commanding victory in Houston, Ronaldo took to X to share a couple of pictures from the match and captioned the post, “ESTAMOS AQUI! (WE ARE HERE!)“ The post has since gone viral on social media.
