Actor Anya Singh, who recently gained widespread attention for her performance in Aryan Khan’s Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, is still soaking in the love that followed. Playing Sanya — the sharp and grounded manager to Aasmaan (Lakshya Lalwani) — Anya has been hailed for bringing nuance and quiet strength to the high-stakes world of Aryan’s satirical drama on the Hindi film industry.
‘Ranbir Kapoor Made Me Feel Very Comfortable’
While much of the spotlight has been on Aryan Khan’s bold directorial debut, Anya fondly remembers her experience shooting with Ranbir Kapoor, who makes a memorable cameo in the series. The actor, she says, was effortlessly cool on set and instantly put her nerves to rest.
“It was Day 2 of the shoot, and I was absolutely
nervous because I was in between two legends in their own ways — Karan (Johar) and Ranbir,” Anya shared in a conversation with Mid-Day. “They made me feel very comfortable and at ease, which is why there was a sweet moment between us. Ranbir is super chill as a professional. Pata hi nahi chala when they came and we shot; it was a breeze working with them.”
The Student of the Year 2 actress also credited Aryan Khan for creating a relaxed and collaborative environment on set. “Aryan didn’t put any pressure at all. He made sure the vibe was always easy and family-like. That’s why all of us could bring out our best,” she said.
Her ‘Magical’ Encounter With Shah Rukh Khan
Anya also recalled a surreal evening at Mannat, where she got a chance to interact with Shah Rukh Khan himself. “My favourite memory with Shah Rukh Khan is when one night we were at Mannat, and he spoke to us for a good 45 minutes. It was a one-on-one time with him among so many guests. Anything he says is just magical, and the emotion hits you when you experience it,” she said, smiling.
Anya Singh On Validation And Rumours
For Anya, The Ba***ds of Bollywood feels like a turning point — one where her years of perseverance are finally paying off. “My friends and family are very proud. For the first time, my mom is flaunting my work,” she said. “Even people from within the industry reached out — Vicky Kaushal told me he thought I was amazing, and Karan Johar called me personally. That kind of validation means a lot.”
But while fame brings praise, it also brings gossip. Soon after the show’s release, rumours surfaced claiming that Anya was the daughter of Shah Rukh Khan’s long-time manager, Pooja Dadlani. The actress laughed off the claims: “Pooja is family to the Khans. She’s one of the most respected managers. If people think I’m her daughter, that’s quite funny — I just laugh it off. People will say whatever they want to.”
‘Validation Came The Day YRF Picked Me’
Anya insists that her true sense of validation came years ago, when Yash Raj Films discovered her. “Out of a thousand people, I was selected, even when I didn’t know much about the industry. I was very raw and just off the street. The instant validation that I could do this — with YRF backing me — was like someone validating my dreams,” she said.
With The Ba***ds of Bollywood now streaming to rave reviews, Anya Singh’s calm confidence suggests she’s just getting started — and with legends like Ranbir Kapoor already on her list of co-stars, the road ahead looks promising.
