New Delhi, Jul 29 (PTI) A day after heavy rain lashed Delhi, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a cloudy sky with light rainfall during the night.
Safdarjung, the city’s base station, recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2 degrees Celsius, 0.7 notches below normal. The minimum temperature had settled at 25.7 degrees Celsius, 1.6 notches below normal.
Station-wise data showed the maximum temperature was 33.4 degrees Celsius at Palam, 1.9 notches below normal; 33.6 degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road, 0.4 notch below normal; 33.9 degrees Celsius at Ridge, normal; and 33.0 degrees Celsius at Ayanagar, 1.5 notches below normal.
Lodhi Road received the highest
rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am with 68.8 mm, followed by Safdarjung at 57.6 mm, Ayanagar at 51.5 mm, Ridge at 40.6 mm and Palam at 27.8 mm. No rainfall was recorded at any of the five weather stations between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.
Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 104 in the “moderate” category in the evening hours, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
According to the CPCB’s AQI scale, a reading between 0 and 50 is considered “good”, 51-100 “satisfactory”, 101-200 “moderate”, 201-300 “poor”, 301-400 “very poor” and 401-500 “severe”. PTI MSJ MPL MPL
