According to the World Health Organization (WHO), corporal punishment of children is “highly prevalent, both in homes and schools.” Around the world, an estimated 1.2 billion children, who are between 0-18 age group, are subjected to corporal punishment at homes every year.
WHO highlights that nearly all students report getting physically punished by school staff in some countries, adding that the risk is similar for boys and girls as well as children from wealthy or poor households.
