Palghar, Jul 25 (PTI) Palghar district in Maharashtra is limping back to normalcy after being battered by heavy rainfall between July 22 and July 24 that left three people dead and caused extensive damage to roads and public infrastructure.
The damage has been caused along key routes, including the Narpad-Chikhla coastal road and Vadghar bridge.
District Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik has instructed the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Zilla Parishad to immediately undertake comprehensive damage surveys and prioritise restoration work to restore normal traffic and daily life as quickly as possible.
He directed Palghar district collector Indu Rani Jakhar and other officials to promptly provide essential amenities and support to citizens affected
by adverse weather conditions, according to a release.
Naik inspected flood-affected areas across the district. He instructed officials to ensure adequate food, medicines, and other essential items for citizens evacuated and shifted to temporary shelters.
He directed the district administration to urgently complete damage assessments and expedite process filings so that financial compensation can be disbursed to affected families strictly as per government norms.
Officials said on Friday that 244 people had been rescued from various waterlogged locations across the district. These included 124 from Palghar town, 65 workers stranded at a factory in Talasari, and 25 people trapped at a farmhouse in Gundale. PTI COR NSK
