The wait is finally over for desi fans of JO1. On Friday, September 19, members of the popular Japanese pop group – Issei Mamehara (Mame) and Shosei Ohira (Shosei) – landed in Mumbai to a warm welcome from the hosting team and their enthusiastic followers.
Beaming with smiles and waving at photographers, the duo greeted fans as they stepped on Indian soil for the very first time. In true desi style, they were welcomed with marigold garlands. At one point, they stopped to fold their hands in a traditional “Namaste,” a gesture that instantly won hearts. Fans also managed to click selfies with the J-pop idols as they made their way out of the airport.

For their appearance, the duo kept it casual yet stylish. Mame opted for a black T-shirt and relaxed-fit jeans, while Shosei wore a white cardigan paired with blue denim.
Exploring Mumbai In Desi Style
Mame and Shosei, part of JO1’s 11-member lineup, are set to explore the city during their brief stay.
According to Pinkvilla, their itinerary includes a tour of Mumbai landmarks such as Marine Drive and the Gateway of India. They are also expected to attend events and connect with notable figures from India’s entertainment and cultural scene.

Formed in 2019 through the hit survival show Produce 101 Japan, JO1 is managed by Lapone Entertainment. The band comprises Issei Mamehara, Shosei Ohira, Ren Kawashiri, Takumi Kawanishi, Shion Tsurubo, Ruki Shiroiwa, Keigo Sato, Syoya Kimata, Junki Kono, Sukai Kinjo and Sho Yonashiro.
They debuted in March 2020 with the single Protostar and quickly rose to fame with their addictive tracks and powerful performances.
