ANI, citing Al Jazeera and Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), also reported that emergency and firefighting teams were deployed immediately after the strike.
Authorities confirmed there were no injuries as a direct result of the explosion or the subsequent blaze, while efforts continued to prevent further damage to critical
facilities.
DAMAGE TO POWER AND DESALINATION FACILITIES
Reuters further reported that two power generation units were taken out of service after Iranian drones targeted power and water desalination plants, causing significant damage to essential infrastructure.
Kuwait’s electricity and water ministry confirmed that no injuries were reported in any of the incidents, according to the report.
According to Press TV, the Iranian military deployed Arash-2 drones to strike radar systems and facilities linked to regional military logistics.
Press TV said the strikes were aimed at assets Tehran considers connected to the US-Israeli alliance, including industrial infrastructure.
Iranian officials described the operations as retaliatory measures in response to attacks on Iranian industrial sites.
KUWAIT AIR DEFENCES RESPOND
AFP reported that Kuwait’s military said its air defences were actively intercepting incoming missiles and drones as part of ongoing regional hostilities.
In a statement posted on X, the Kuwaiti army said explosions heard across the country were the result of defensive interceptions targeting hostile aerial threats.
AFP also reported that an Iranian drone attack caused significant damage to a government building in Kuwait City on Saturday evening, according to a finance ministry statement.
Authorities said staff from ministries located in the affected complex would work remotely, and visits to the building were temporarily suspended.
CONFLICT ENTERS SIXTH WEEK
The latest attacks come as the US-Israeli war on Iran enters its sixth week, with Tehran expanding its strikes to include Israel and Gulf Arab states hosting US military installations.
The escalation has increasingly targeted economic and energy infrastructure across the Middle East, raising concerns about broader disruption to global supply chains.
According to AFP, Gulf states, including Kuwait, have been targeted by Iran in retaliation for the US-Israeli strikes, while air defence systems in the region remain on alert amid continued missile and drone threats.
