Mumbai, Jun 24 (PTI) A wanted criminal who had been evading arrest for nearly two decades in a forged documents case has been arrested by the special task force of Mumbai Police, an official said on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Sudesh Sudevan Raghavan (46), was apprehended from the Mira Road area of Thane district on Tuesday night and later produced before a court. He is involved in business activities.
Raghavan was wanted in connection with a case registered at the Colaba police station in 2006 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 465 (forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance
of common intention). The charges pertain to the fabrication and usage of fake documents.
The breakthrough came after the police launched a dedicated four-month operation to track him down, police said.
During the investigation, police scrutinised his criminal history and discovered that he had been previously arrested in 2021 in connection with a separate case registered at the Narpoli police station.
By coordinating with the concerned authorities and utilising technical analysis and intelligence inputs, the police monitored his movements. Once located in the Mira Road area, the special task force moved in to apprehend him, the official added. PTI ZA NSK
