Shivam Dube is part of India’s T20I team, and he was in line to get picked for the upcoming three-match ODI series in Australia as well, but the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee ignored him for a place
in the 15-member squad, which will be led by Shubman Gill. In the team announced for the three one-day matches in Australia on October 4, there was no place for Dube in the ODI squad, and instead Nitish Kumar Reddy was preferred over him as Hardik Pandya’s replacement.
Pandya played all five matches for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and six matches in the Asia Cup 2025, but he will miss the white-ball series in Australia due to injury-related issues.
After being ignored by the BCCI selectors, Dube played for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy warm-up match against Maharashtra, and in the second innings of the fixture that concluded on Thursday, he scored 100 runs from just 63 balls. He needed 62 balls to complete his century.
Dube reached the 100-run mark by hitting a four on the first ball of the 39th over bowled by Rajvardhan Hangargekar.
However, on the next ball, he was caught in an attempt to play a big shot down the ground.
Dube’s record in ODIs
Dube has played four ODIs for Team India so far, and in those four matches he has scored 43 runs in addition to taking one wicket. His ODI debut was against the West Indies in Chennai on December 15, 2019, and he played his last ODI on August 7, 2024, against Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Dube in T20I team
Despite being ignored for the ODI series, Dube has managed to retain his place in the T20I team for the five-match series in Australia. The 32-year-old played six matches for India in the recently concluded Asia Cup and impressed with his all-round show.
In India’s first Group A match against the United Arab Emirates in Dubai on September 10, Dube picked up three wickets for 4 runs in two overs, and in the final against Pakistan in Dubai on September 28, he scored 33 runs from 22 balls as a No. 6 batter in the 147-run chase.
