Actress and politician Kangana Ranaut is once again facing scrutiny online after an old jewellery advertisement featuring her resurfaced on social media. The renewed attention comes shortly after she criticised Kriti Sanon’s look in GIVA’s Rakhi advertisement, which was later taken down. Soon after Kangana’s remarks made headlines, netizens brought back an older Raksha Bandhan campaign for jewellery brand Nakshatra. The advertisement, shared by the actress years ago, featured Kangana in a strapless outfit with a plunging neckline.
The resurfaced campaign soon became a talking point online, with users comparing Kangana’s look in the old advertisement with the outfit she recently commented on while discussing Kriti’s Rakhi campaign. Now, veteran
actress Kunickaa Sadanand has reacted to the old ad while seemingly taking a dig at Kangana. She reshared a post online and wrote, “Mera kutta kutta, tera kutta Tommy???”

Many even slammed Kangana’s comments against Kriti and called her a ‘hypocrite.’
It all started after a Raksha Bandhan advertisement featuring Kriti Sanon went viral on social media recently. She was seen sporting a contemporary ensemble featuring a bralette-style blouse, a cape and a draped skirt. Her choice of outfit sparked criticism from a section of social media users, who questioned the use of a modern look for a festival traditionally associated with family and cultural customs. Kangana later joined the conversation, voicing her disapproval of Kriti’s outfit. She wrote on her Instagram stories, “It’s a wonderful time to be a woman. Our closets are full of a variety of clothes, today’s woman is a global woman. From cocktail dresses to lehenga cholis, jeans to saris, bikinis to salwar kameez, from all the options that are available to us today, why would you tie your brother a rakhi in your bikini/undergarments? Where are all your styling options? Ha ha the advert looks intentionally creepy!”
Amid the ongoing backlash, Kriti chose to share an official statement. It read, “The essence of festivals is not in the clothes you wear, it is in the emotions and meaning you hold for the traditions. Rakshabandhan is a bond of protection. My sister and I tie rakhi to each other. We know we can protect each other no less than a brother would have. We pray for each other’s health, happiness & long life. And for us, this prayer and promise extends to our dogs too! Afterall, they are family!”
She further wrote, “Also, when will we stop telling women what to wear??Ethnic fashion has evolved over the years, but still a woman’s respect for her culture is measured with just her clothes!! Culture & Traditions are in her heart, not in her neckline!”
However, soon after, GIVA released a statement and informed that the ad has been pulled down “out of respect,” reiterating its regard for Indian culture, traditions and festivals.
