The IIT Kharagpur recorded a strong placement season in Phase I of its 2025–26 campus placements, with a total of 1,501 job offers made, the institute said in a statement. The highest annual package touched Rs 2.44 crore.
Phase I of the placement drive was held between December 1, 2025, and January 3, 2026, and included 457 pre-placement offers and 15 international offers. During the process, the institute also achieved a rare milestone by crossing 1,000 offers in a single day.
“A historic milestone was achieved on day two of placement at 8 am when the institute crossed 1,000 job offers,” the statement said, based on a review of data from the month-long Phase I session.
The placement season saw participation from a wide range of companies across
sectors such as technology, core engineering, finance, consulting, analytics and manufacturing. Despite uncertainty around US visa policies, several American companies showed interest in recruiting students from the institute.
Major recruiters included Apple, Tesla, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, Airbus, Boeing, Mercedes, Qualcomm, Siemens, Amazon, Walmart, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, Databricks, JP Morgan Chase, Accenture, American Express, Samsung Korea, Texas Instruments, ExxonMobil, Caterpillar, Schlumberger Limited, L&T Finance, and the Tata Group.

Chairperson of the Career Development Centre (CDC), IIT Kharagpur, Prof Sanjay Gupta said, “The exceptional outcomes of the placement season underscore the strength of our collaborative model, despite the challenges in the job market.”
The institute has also announced that Phase II of the placement session for 2025–26 began on January 16.
