Aaditya Thackeray opposes data centre, ring metro projects in Thane

Thane, Sep 8 (PTI) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday strongly opposed the planned data center and internal ring metro project in Thane, raising environmental and public health concerns.

Addressing residents near the proposed data center site in Balkum, the former Maharashtra minister stated that constructing a 53-acre project in the heart of the city was not desirable.

The data center would require massive water supplies for cooling, store around 5 lakh liters of diesel for generators, and generate continuous noise pollution reaching up to 90 decibels, he claimed.

Thackeray also criticized the ring metro project, alleging that around 3,500 trees would be felled, accelerating concretisation of a city known for its green cover.

Urging citizens to unite, Thackeray assured full political support against both projects. PTI COR KRK
