Amitabh Bachchan is returning to television with Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18. Sony TV has confirmed that the quiz show will premiere on August 10, 2026, and the first set of promos suggests that contestants may face a significant change in the game this time.
The channel has released multiple videos featuring Bachchan, each built around the same message: knowing the correct answer may no longer be enough. The upcoming season appears to be placing greater emphasis on reasoning and how contestants arrive at a response.
Amitabh Bachchan Says ‘The Game Has Changed’
In the first promo, Bachchan warns viewers that conventional knowledge across subjects such as geography, history, sports and science will not be sufficient in the new season.
“Bhughol,
itihaas, khel, vigyaan, inn sabka gyaan iss baar KBC mein kaafi nahi hoga. Kyunki ab khel jo hai, woh badal gaya hai. Kewal uttar yaad rakhne se kaam nahi chalne wala, sochna padega,” he says.
The line strongly hints that contestants could be asked to apply logic or explain their thinking instead of relying only on memory.
KBC 18 Promos Refer To Artificial Intelligence
A second promo connects the show’s proposed change with the rapid rise of artificial intelligence. Bachchan notes that technology has altered how quickly people can access information and says the quiz show must evolve with that shift.
“Dekhiye, aaj AI ne duniya ko badal diya hai, aur yeh badlav rukne wala nahi hai. Jo kal tak namumkin lagta tha, woh aaj pal bhar mein mumkin ho jaata hai,” he says.
He then adds, “Isliye KBC mein bhi humne kuch badalne ka prayatna kiya hai. Ab uttar dene se pehle aapko sochna padega.”
The third promo makes the idea even clearer by pointing out that answers are now readily available on smartphones.
“Aaj kal jawaab har jagah milne lag gaya hai, aapki jeb mein bhi. Nahi samjhe? Arey bhaisahab, aapke phone pe,” Bachchan says. “Jawab yaad rakhne se kaam nahi chalega. Uss jawab ke liye aapko sochna padega.”
What Is Amitabh Bachchan Working On Next?
Apart from KBC 18, Bachchan has two officially announced films in the pipeline. Section 84 has been awaiting release for some time, while the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2027.
For now, Sony TV has not revealed the exact mechanics of the new KBC format, but the promos indicate that Season 18 intends to test more than recall.
