Delhi Capitals (DC) stunned Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Monday night, pulling off a terrific chase of 211 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Despite multiple hiccups, the Axar Patel-led side clinched a three-wicket win to stay alive in the IPL 2026 playoffs race.
Delhi Capitals chased down the target with six balls to spare, becoming the first side to successfully chase down a 200-plus total in Dharamsala in the IPL. The previous highest was 193, chased by Chennai Super Kings against Kings XI Punjab in 2010.

This was also DCβs second-highest run chase in IPL history, bettering the pursuit of 210 against Lucknow Super Giants last year in Vizag.

David Miller and skipper Axar Patel (56 off 30) led
a counterattacking revival after early setbacks, adding a crucial 64-run stand. Contributions from Ashutosh Sharma and Madhav Tiwari sealed the chase.
Earlier, Priyansh Aryaβs 33-ball 56 powered PBKS to 210/5, but DC bowlers fought back after a poor start. Despite an 83-run stand between Shreyas Iyer and Cooper Connolly, PBKS fell short as DC completed a record chase.
Is DC Still In the Playoffs Race?
Delhi Capitals are seventh with 10 points from 12 matches and must win both remaining games against Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders to reach 14. However, victories alone may not suffice, as their poor Net Run Rate (-0.993) remains a concern.

With teams like Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals already on 12 points, the race could be decided on NRR. Delhi also need favourable results elsewhere, hoping sides like Punjab Kings and CSK drop points. Any further loss would end their playoff hopes.
