Legendary Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal joined the judges’ panel of the Miss Universe 2025, slated to be held in Thailand, the organisers said on Sunday.
“Saina Nehwal joins our Selection Committee for the
74th Miss Universe Competition,” the organisers said in a post on social media platform Instagram.

“An Olympic medalist, Padma Bhushan honoree, and former World Number One, she is one of India’s most celebrated athletes, a trailblazing badminton icon whose discipline, courage, and unmatched legacy have inspired a generation of young women to dream without limits,” the statement added.
“Her presence reflects the spirit of excellence, resilience, and leadership that defines Miss Universe,” the post continued.
The ace shuttler has had a phenomenal career representing India and revolutionising the sport in the country. Saina has participated in multiple premier badminton tournaments for India, winning numerous trophies and medals. She is also the only female Indian player to have achieved the world number-one ranking in badminton. Saina has played a significant role in inspiring thousands of athletes and young people in the country to pursue success.
The Indian star shuttler competed in three editions of the Olympics: 2008, 2012, and 2016. She made history by becoming the first female badminton player from India to win an Olympic medal, securing a bronze at the 2012 London Olympics. Additionally, she claimed gold medals at the 2010 and 2018 Commonwealth Games and has been honoured with the Padma Shri for her contributions to the sport.
