The opening day of the first Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan delivered plenty of cricketing drama, but it was an on-air blunder by the host broadcasters that stole the spotlight online. In a moment that rapidly went viral across social media platforms, the broadcasters mistakenly displayed a Pakistan playing XI graphic featuring the names of several Indian cricketers.
Names such as Rohit Sharma (who was picked as the team captain!), Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Jitesh Sharma, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar were listed in Pakistan’s lineup. The stats were mostly wrong, and the team was a curious mix of Test and T20I specialists, which could not have been from an actual
match.
Social media was flooded with reactions soon after clips of the incident surfaced online. One fan sarcastically remarked that even the graphics department knew “who brings the real TRP,” while another joked that Pakistan’s selectors had apparently turned to Photoshop for team selection. Several users questioned whether the mistake was accidental or a deliberate ploy to spark engagement from Indian cricket fans.

The Test itself began on a competitive note. Bangladesh, led by a superb century from captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, posted an imposing 413 in the first innings. Shanto struck 101 from 130 deliveries, while Mominul Haque contributed 91 and veteran Mushfiqur Rahim added 71.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas took a five-wicket haul for just 92 runs, with Shaheen Afridi contributing three wickets and Hasan Ali and Noman Ali chipping in with one each.
Pakistan entered the match without star batter Babar Azam, who was ruled out with a knee injury. Captain Shan Masood confirmed the late withdrawal at the toss and also announced the debut of opener Azan Awais.
