BTS member Suga sent the fandom into a frenzy on Sunday after unexpectedly returning to live interaction with fans for the first time in nearly two years. The rapper-producer went live on Weverse following the completion of his military service, marking a quiet yet emotional comeback that instantly dominated social media conversations.
The live session was Suga’s first broadcast since his enlistment and came as a complete surprise to fans. Dressed in an all-black outfit and wearing glasses, he appeared relaxed as he greeted viewers and shared a personal moment by introducing his pet cat. Holding the black cat up to the camera, Suga revealed that its name is Tang, which translates to “Sugar,” instantly delighting fans across platforms.
During the
broadcast, Suga addressed fans briefly and kept the interaction warm and reassuring. He said, “Everyone, it’s cold, please take care of your health. In the near future, I’ll come back again.” The short message was enough to spark emotional reactions, with many fans describing the moment as overwhelming after a long period without live appearances.

The BTS ARMY’s response was swift and heartfelt. Videos circulating online showed fans reacting in real time to the Weverse notification. In one clip, several ARMY members watching a movie in a theatre were seen squealing and cheering the moment Suga appeared on their screens. Online, reactions ranged from disbelief to tears. “I’m glad we as a fandom didn’t overreact. Valid reactions all round,” wrote one fan. Another commented, “When notification came, I needed to check twice to be sure it’s really yoongi and I’m not dreaming,” while a third added, “Awww I love us ARMYS so much why is this making me cry??”
Suga began his social service on September 22, 2023, and completed his mandatory duty in June this year. His return comes as BTS move closer to a full-group reunion after more than two and a half years. Jin, the first member to enlist in December 2022, was discharged in June last year, followed by J-Hope in October 2024. RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook were discharged last week.
Recently, several BTS members reunited publicly when J-Hope performed at a concert in Seoul. RM, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook were present at the venue, though only Jin and Jungkook joined J-Hope on stage.
