When India and Pakistan face off on the cricket field, sparks fly. And the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Super Six clash on Sunday promises to be no different.
But unlike their senior counterparts, India and Pakistan are even in their head-to-head meetings in the age-category Cricket World Cup.
India and Pakistan have competed against each other 10 times in ICC Under-19 World Cup history. Of the 10 matches, India and Pakistan have each won 5.
IND vs PAK – Recent Meetings
However, recent meetings have proved to be quite a different story as they strongly favour India, having won five of the last six encounters.
In the early years, Pakistan had the upper hand, winning crucial matches in 1988, 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2010, often edging out India in close games. But from 2012 onward,
India have been more consistent and clinical.
India’s recent wins have been particularly commanding. The 203-run victory in 2018 and the 10-wicket win in 2020 stand out.

What India and Pakistan Need To Do To Book Semi-Final Spot?
India, along with England, currently sit in prime positions after registering key wins. A victory in their remaining matches would seal semi-final qualification, while even a narrow loss could still keep them in contention, depending on other results.
Despite trailing the front-runners, Pakistan remain very much in the race. They need a positive result against India and will be closely monitoring England’s match against New Zealand. Net run rate will play a decisive role if teams finish level on points.
“The boys are really excited for the match, we’ll just play our game, not really worry about our opponents that we are playing against, (we’ll) just play our game and back our game,” India captain Ayush Mhatre said ahead of the match.
“The boys (have) morale high for the next game (against India) and … not too much (focus will be) on India, it’s (about) playing our natural game and play a good game in good spirit. It’s a big game, the crowd really enjoy (games like this), but I already told the boys before, focus on the game … and give your 100 per cent,” Pakistan’s Sameer Minhas said.
