National Security Act Invoked Against UP Man Who Allegedly Killed Wife, Two Daughters

The district administration has invoked the stringent National Security Act against a 45-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife and two daughters in Shamli district, authorities said on Sunday.

The accused identified as Farukh, was arrested on December 17 last year in a triple murder case in Ghari Daulat village in the Kandhla area here, officials said.

The National Security Act (NSA) of 1980 allows authorities to detain a person without formal charges for up to a year to prevent actions that could disturb public order.

According to Shamli Superintendent of Police NP Singh, the National Security Act was added against Farukh on Saturday.

Police said Farukh allegedly killed his wife, Tahira, and one daughter by shooting, and strangled the other

daughter following a family dispute. He then buried the bodies inside the house to conceal the crime.

After his arrest, police recovered the bodies, they said, adding that the accused is lodged in jail.

Officials said a sessions court has rejected Farukh’s bail plea. Police added that further legal formalities under the NSA are also being completed.
