New Delhi, Sep 8 (PTI) Delhi recorded an above-normal maximum temperature on Tuesday, with the Safdarjung observatory recording 35 degrees Celsius, 1.5 notches above normal, according to the India Meteorological Department.
No rainfall was recorded in the city in the past 24 hours.
Rainfall is likely to return from Friday, with generally cloudy conditions expected over the city, the IMD said.
Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 33.4 degrees Celsius, 0.1 notch below normal, while Lodhi Road recorded 34.8 degrees Celsius, 1.8 notches above normal. Ridge recorded 34.3 degrees Celsius, 0.7 notch above normal, and Ayanagar recorded 34.6 degrees Celsius, 0.2 notch above normal.
The minimum temperature at Safdarjung was 24.7 degrees Celsius, 0.9 notch
below normal. Palam recorded 22.6 degrees Celsius, 2.6 notches below normal, while Lodhi Road recorded 24.3 degrees Celsius, 0.7 notch below normal.
Ridge recorded 20.8 degrees Celsius, 3.7 notches below normal, and Ayanagar recorded 24.2 degrees Celsius, 0.5 notch below normal.
The IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky on Wednesday, with the minimum and maximum temperatures expected to settle at 26 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius, respectively.
After several days of air quality remaining in the satisfactory category due to rains, Delhi’s air quality slipped to the moderate category, with the AQI recorded at 113 on Tuesday evening, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
According to the CPCB’s classification, an AQI of 0-50 is considered as ‘good’, 51-100 as ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 as ‘moderate’, 201-300 as ‘poor’, 301-400 as ‘very poor’ and 401-500 as ‘severe’. PTI SGV SGV SKY SKY
