As the world’s eyes turned to the snowy peaks of Milano Cortina for the 2026 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony on Friday, February 6, they were greeted by a familiar face. Taylor Swift, currently dominating the charts with her twelfth studio album Life of a Showgirl, appeared in a pre-recorded video message to offer her gratitude and support to the world’s most elite winter athletes.
Sporting a $95 Ralph Lauren Team USA Polo Bear Long Sleeve T-shirt and a noticeably more natural beauty look, the 36-year-old superstar delivered a heartfelt tribute that resonated with the themes of sacrifice and excellence central to the Games.
A Message of Gratitude and Inspiration
The “Fate of Ophelia” singer didn’t just offer a standard “good luck.” Instead, she focused on the human stories behind
the gold medals. “I just wanted to say thank you!” Swift began. “Getting to learn your stories and see everything that you’ve sacrificed and all your determination and hard work and passion and everything that’s gotten you to this point where you’re so excellent at something, it’s just really inspiring.”

Swift, who has spent much of the last few years on her record-breaking Eras Tour, seemed to draw a parallel between her own rigorous journey and the path of an Olympian. “I am very grateful for everything you’ve done to get to this point in your life and grateful you brought us all along with you on this journey so that we get to watch you do this,” she concluded. “I just hope that you have a wonderful Olympic games. Wishing you all the best of luck and a safe journey and I hope that this is an experience that you will cherish for the rest of your life.”
The ‘Opalite’ Fever Dream Connection
The timing of the appearance was no coincidence. Just hours earlier, Swift had set the internet ablaze by dropping the music video for her new single “Opalite.” The video, a ’90s-inspired “school group project” as she called it, features an incredible ensemble of stars who appeared with her on The Graham Norton Show back in October 2025.
Working again with cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, Swift cast Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lewis Capaldi in a satirical narrative centered around a fictional “instant happiness” spray. On Instagram, Swift explained that the idea sparked during that talk show taping when Domhnall Gleeson joked about being in a video. “To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90’s with us and help with this video,” she wrote. Between her blockbuster music release and her Olympic cameo, Swift has once again proven her ability to command the global conversation across both sports and entertainment.
