New Delhi, Sep 16 (PTI) The Delhi Jal Board’s (DJB) two-day ‘Jal Manthan’ conclave on better water management in the national capital concluded on Wednesday with a resolution to rejuvenate the Yamuna River.
The conclave that began on September 15 brought together leading water experts, technology specialists, and representatives of multilateral organisations to explore practical and technology-driven solutions for Delhi.
“Jal Manthan 2026 was not just about discussions. It was about bringing the best ideas, technology and experience from India and across the world and converting them into solutions for Delhi,” Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said.
“Our objective was very clear that every household should receive reliable and quality water, every drop
should be used responsibly, and the Yamuna should move towards restoration,” he said.
The real success of the manthan will be when these ideas translate into better services for the people of Delhi and visible improvement in the health of our Yamuna, he added.
The conclave focused on six key themes, including 24×7 quality water supply, circular water economy, future-ready workforce, Digital DJB, financial sustainability and Yamuna rejuvenation.
“The discussions emphasised that the health of the Yamuna is directly linked to the way Delhi manages its entire water and wastewater cycle — from water supply and distribution to sewage collection, treatment, reuse, drain management and pollution prevention,” an official statement said.
Water experts from India, Israel, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and France, along with institutions including the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, participated in the conclave, it added. PTI SSM RHL
