The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) on Thursday announced a complete refund of ticket prices for spectators after the fourth T20 International between India and South Africa was abandoned due to fog.
The match, scheduled to commence at 7 pm, was called off at 9:30 pm following the sixth inspection on Wednesday (December 17) due to poor visibility caused by a thick blanket of fog at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
In a statement, UPCA secretary Prem Manohar Gupta explained the process of claiming the refund.
“Spectators who booked tickets online will receive a refund through their original mode of payment. Refund-related notifications will be sent to the registered email addresses. Ticket holders are advised to regularly monitor their emails
for further updates,” Gupta stated.
How To Claim Refund If You Purchased Tickets Offline
Those who purchased tickets offline can collect their refunds at the box office located at Gate No. 2 of the Ekana International Cricket Stadium on December 20, 21, and 22, between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Offline ticket holders must present their original physical tickets along with a copy of government ID for verification. Customers will need to submit their bank details and fill out the refund form provided at the counter with accurate information. The original tickets and completed form must be submitted for verification.
Upon successful verification, refunds will be processed directly to the respective bank accounts as per the details provided in the refund form. Refunds will be initiated only after due verification of the submitted documents and information.
The abandoned contest has raised questions over BCCI scheduling with Congress MP Shashi Tharoor demanding that matches be scheduled in South India during this period to avoid any disruptions in the future.
India lead the five-match series 2-1 and will face South Africa in the fifth and final contest on Friday in Ahmedabad.
