A tragic accident in Madhya Pradesh has sparked outrage after journalist Deepak Soni succumbed to injuries amid allegations of a critical delay in medical response after a road mishap.
Soni was on his way to attend an agricultural fair in Raisen when he met with an accident and was rushed to the district hospital. With his condition reported to be critical, doctors advised immediate referral to Bhopal for advanced treatment.
However, family members allege that no ambulance was made available for nearly 2-3 hours. With no alternative in sight, they eventually transported him to Bhopal in a private vehicle, where he later died during treatment.
The family has further claimed that the district hospital’s ambulance had been deployed for VIP duty at the agricultural
event, which was attended by senior leaders, including Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. They allege that this delay in arranging an ambulance proved fatal.
The incident has triggered anger among journalists and local residents. Members of the media fraternity in Raisen have submitted a memorandum to the district collector, addressed to the Chief Minister, demanding strict action.
Responding to the incident, State Minister Narendra Patel expressed condolences and assured that action would be taken if negligence is established, whether on the part of hospital authorities or ambulance staff. He added that such situations must be handled with utmost sensitivity.
