Cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s wedding with composer Palash Muchhal has been put on hold, which left fans and even Bollywood stars shocked. What stands out even more is the support shown by Smriti’s close
friend and teammate, Jemimah Rodrigues. The cricketer decided to skip the 2025 Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) so she can stay by Smriti’s side during this tough phase. Actor Suniel Shetty noticed a report about her decision and appreciated her for showing such support.
Smriti’s wedding delay comes at a time when her father has been unwell and had to be taken to the hospital. At the same time, Smriti deleted all her wedding-related posts, which led to speculations about Palash cheating before the big day. Although nothing has been confirmed, the situation has led to many questions and strong reactions.
Suniel Shetty Praises Jemimah Rodrigues’s Quiet Gesture
In the post shared by Suniel Shetty on X (Formerly Twitter), it was explained on a newspaper that Jemimah Rodrigues had come to India a few days earlier to be part of Smriti Mandhana’s wedding and was supposed to go back soon to finish her matches for Brisbane Heat in the WBBL. But things changed suddenly when Smriti’s father became unwell just before the wedding day, leading the family to delay the ceremony. Seeing how difficult the situation had become, Jemimah chose to stay with Smriti instead of returning to Australia, so that she can support her friend.
In the caption, the Border star wrote, “Bumped into this article first thing in the morning and my heart felt full. Jemimah leaving the WBBL to be by Smriti’s side. No big statements, just quiet solidarity. This is what real teammates do. Simple. Straight. Genuine.”

Stress Believed To Be The Main Cause Of Palaash Muchhal’s Discomfort
After Smriti Mandhana’s father had to be taken to the hospital, another update surfaced saying that Palaash Muchhal also needed medical attention. He reportedly felt sudden pain in his chest and was taken to the hospital for a check-up. Doctors later shared that his condition was not serious.
Dr Dipendra Tripathi, treating the singer at SRV Hospital in Goregaon, told Mid Day, “Muchhal’s condition appears to be linked to stress-related distress rather than a serious cardiac event. While certain levels were found to be slightly elevated, there was no indication of a major cardiac or medical emergency. As a basic line of treatment in such cases, oxygen therapy was started immediately.”
Doctors have told Palaash Muchhal to take full rest for at least three weeks so that his body can heal properly and the problem does not come back again.
