Amir Jangoo is in sensational form for the West Indies in the first Test of the ongoing two-match series against Sri Lanka. In the series opener at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, the 28-year-old left-handed wicketkeeper-batter has scored a magnificent double century for the hosts. At the end of 149 overs of the West Indies’ first innings on Day 3, he was unbeaten on 226 off 370 balls, having struck 19 fours and two sixes.
Jangoo’s unbeaten 226 has helped him break the record for the highest individual score by a West Indies batter in a World Test Championship (WTC) match.
Before Jangoo’s innings, the record was held by Kyle Mayers, who made an unbeaten 210 off 310 balls against Bangladesh in the fourth innings of the Test
played in Chattogram from February 3 to 7, 2021.

Jangoo’s double century in the ongoing Test also made him only the third West Indies batter, after Brian Lara and Chris Gayle, to score 200 or more runs in a Test match against Sri Lanka.
