Raisen (MP), June 5 (PTI) Three persons were killed and at least 15 others injured when two private buses collided in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district on Friday, police said.
Some of the injured passengers, who were in a serious condition, were taken to Bhopal, they said.
The accident occurred around 1 pm near Sehatganj toll plaza on the Bhopal-Raisen Road, about 25 km from the district headquarters.
Sandora police outpost in-charge Shailendra Dayima told PTI that three passengers died in the collision. He identified two of the deceased as Makhan Singh Lodhi (29) and Nitish Vyas (28).
The identity of the third deceased was yet to be established. The three bodies have been sent to the district mortuary, police said.
While at least 15 passengers suffered
injuries, the official said, some of them were referred to Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal as their condition was serious. The others have been admitted to the district hospital in Raisen.
According to police, the accident involved vehicles operated by Shakti Bus Service and Kalpana Travels.
After being alerted about the incident, Collector Arun Kumar Vishwakarma and Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Gupta reached the spot along with police personnel and rescue teams.
Eyewitnesses said the impact of the collision was so severe that the front portions of both buses were severely damaged.
Local residents and passers-by helped rescue passengers trapped inside the vehicles before police and emergency teams arrived, they added.
Police said they are investigating the cause of the accident. PTI COR LAL NR
